Step Up To Your Destiny

(Joshua 3:15-17) “Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.”

The Priests went first and stepped into the Jordan River which was at flood stage and overflowing and the waters stopped flowing. Then the rest of Israel crossed over. The Priests are a sign of spiritual authority just like us, we are royalty! We are children of the Most High God and we need to step into our authority as the royal children we are, princes and princesses in Christ!

(Romans 8:17) “Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.”

As they stepped into the Jordan River in faith and walking in their authority the waters stopped up. You have a flood of issues surrounding you and all that is needed is FAITH and your faith will deliver you.

(Mark 5:34) "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."

I. What do you do to step into your destiny?

F-faith and reverential fear of God

A-act on that faith as if you had visible proof

I-in line—stay in line with the Word of God—know it and live it, obey it

T— “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

HHis glory—So praise Him, thank Him---remember it is for His glory in all that you do, and He says, “I will not give My glory to another or My praise to idols.” It is in and for His glory that all men are saved and that He sent Jesus to die on the cross for OUR sins. It is for His glory that we are saved, delivered, and healed. It is for His glory that He loves us unconditionally in spite of what we do but because of who we are HIS creation, His children. So, in that He will always prove Himself faithful. There is nothing to fear, nothing to doubt. He promises victory in His Word and He is true to His word, “For You have exalted above all things Your Name and Your Word.”

It takes perseverance, patience, and trust.—Paul was hindered many times from visiting churches, and Joseph received dreams from the Lord that he would be over his brothers one day. It would be to restore his family and feed nations, but had to go through many things to get there. Moses ran from his destiny and lived in the desert for many years until God brought him back. David ran from King Saul for many years until he became king.

II. Personal Growth--Have Patience—It takes time to mature to the point where God says you are ready!

  1. Patience

  2. Maturity

Like Joseph when his brothers were jealous and threw him into a pit, then he was sold into slavery and accused wrongly and then thrown into prison. He was a young teenager and very immature or he would have known NOT to tell your already jealous brothers that you had a dream that one day you were going to lord over them. Not too smart. He needed to mature and he had the dream, God told him in advance, but He needed to mature and have patience. He did so and ended up in the position to help 2 countries be fed; Egypt and Israel, which symbolizes the Jews and the Gentiles, which also represents, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13). This is foreshadowing Jesus Christ; he was restored to his family as well.

Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:4)

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” (Ephesians 4:15)

3. Obedience—We are to imitate Jesus Christ’s obedience.

“And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2:8)

If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19)

4. Be humble and show integrity

“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:12)

“The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. (Proverbs 11:3)

5. Intimacy—true devotion--pure

“Let your heart, therefore, be wholly devoted to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as at this day.” (I Kings 8:61)

“Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:22)

6. Discipline as in Self-Discipline.

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other so you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” (Galatians 5:16-18)

But as for you, exercise self-control in everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” (II Timothy 4:5)

III. Continuing in Your Destiny-Purpose

A. What do you do?

  1. Continue in Obedience

  2. Continue in Devotion-Sincere, Humble Heart

  3. Continue in Reverence—giving God the glory for everything.

  4. Continue in the Word

  5. Continue in Worship and Praise

  6. Continue in Daily Prayer-communication

B. You will Make a difference; people will notice

When you step into your destiny as a child of God the people in your life will take notice and will follow you into victory, salvation, healing, and wholeness in the Lord and all will give glory to Him who is our Savior and we receive and eternal glory, a home in heaven forever.

When Paul and Silas were in prison, (you may be surrounded by trouble and feel as if you are in prison), they did not fret but praised God instead and were delivered. When you open your mouth in praise, peace, and victory follow. Satan will not stick around and praise God with you! In seeing their faith and their deliverance the others around were delivered as well.

(Acts 16:25-30) “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!” The jailer called for lights, rushed in, and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

Your family and friends and those you know and who see you and your trials day in and day out will follow your lead and your faith as well when they see its effect. Step into your destiny as a child of God. Walk in the confidence of your royalty and heritage! You are a child of the King of Kings, believe it and walk in it.

(Colossians 1:9-14) “We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light. For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

People will notice—they will want what you have—you will be a true disciple of God and Ambassador of Christ.

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)
