(Daniel 10:12-13) “Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me because I was detained there with the king of Persia.”
Traffic jams, we all hate them! When we are on the road to a destination we just want to get there and do not want to be held up. We are like that in our prayer life; we pray and when it takes too long, we start to get fearful that maybe our prayers will not get answered. The Lord says to believe and keep on believing and our prayers will be answered.
(Matthew 21:22) “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."
The Lord promises that our prayers will be answered but He never promises that they will be immediate; He says to be patient.
(Psalm 27:13-14) “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
There are causes for your prayers being held up:
1st is maybe you are not ready yet and the Lord is perfecting your heart to receive it. If you take a cake out of the oven before it is ready it will fall, and you would not give your car keys to your 10-year-old child! Be patient.
2nd is Satan; just as in the verse above Satan held up the angels delivering the answer and he will cause things to happen to hold up yours as well; traffic jam! Like traffic jams and car accidents, some are caused by others.
3rd reason. Other people cause accidents in front of you and hold you up and keep you from moving. Maybe others are involved in the answer they are holding up the answer and not where they need to be in order to move forward.
4th reason is still the cause of others but this time, of no fault of yours but like accidents, they have run into you. They do something to you and cause reactions that the Lord needs to work out in your spirit before He answers your prayer to keep you from aborting it!
5th reason for the traffic jam is your own fault. Temptation came and you gave in whether it is a prideful or unloving or selfish act or reaction to someone else or fear set in from something going on in your family or job or bills and you chose to do something out of God’s will. The Lord does not want to answer a prayer and it falls through because you were not ready spiritually to receive it. Be as patient with Him in answering as He was with you in receiving Jesus as Lord. He is faithful and He will answer your prayers; trust Him to do it. Your patience and faith are a sign of spiritual maturity and will hasten the answer to your prayers!
(Psalm 145:13) “The Lord is faithful to all of His promises and loving toward all He has made.”
